Biologists have found a way not to leave the “evidence” for creating GMOs. Products with GMO and non-GMO become indistinguishable

Biotechnology from Korea and the US have developed a method of making changes to the plant genome, which are indistinguishable from those that arise in the course of selection.

Scientists hope that the application of this method will produce plants with desired properties and thus circumvent the prohibitions that apply to genetically modified organisms in some countries, according to an N + 1 with reference to Nature Biotechnology.

The method is, in fact, the application to plants known technology CRISPR, which was established a few years ago on the basis of antiviral immunity bacteria. An important feature is the use of not only the genetic structures and ready-RNA-protein complexes. Thus, in contrast to conventional bioengineering techniques, into the genome have been made large foreign structures. The changes which occurred therein, are indistinguishable from normal mutations that arise naturally or under the action of the mutagens used in selection.
