In Primorye, the remains of an ancient Buddhist temple

Archaeologists studying the remains of settlements chzhurchzheney in Primorye, discovered the Cape River Guerrilla in the village Krasnopole remnants of the Buddhist temple of the XIII century - RIA Novosti reported.

Chzhurchzheni - an ancient ethnic group, believed to be ancestors of the Manchus. Chzhurchzheni lived in the territory of Primorye in the modern X-XIII centuries.

“The opening of this monument is of great importance for archeology of Primorye. In essence, this is the first Buddhist temple chzhurchzheney XIII century, discovered in the province. Prior to that, there was the temple only to the era of Bohai” - explained Hope Artemyev - Head of the Institute of Archaeology of Medieval History, Archaeology and Ethnography, Far Eastern Branch of RAS in an interview with RIA Novosti.

According to archaeologists, in addition to the earthen platform, on which traces of the pillars holding the roof on the site of a medieval church, scientists have found remains of roof tiles, pottery and fragments of tripota - the vessel on three legs, which was used in religious purposes.

“The fact that this building was a Buddhist temple in the first place, indicates the type of its architecture and its location. With this also agreed to the Buddhists of the Primorye region, which today came to the excavation to see the remains of the temple. They confessed that they are very interested in this building, and in its place the ceremony of consecration of a Buddhist rite, “- noted conversationalist.

Ancient chzhurchzheni engaged mainly in agriculture, animal husbandry, handicraft production and trade with China and Japan. In chzhurchzheney was developing its own written language. Destroyed the remnants of cities that people found throughout the territory of Primorsky Krai.
