“The U.S. Agency DAPRA (Office of promising research programs in the defense) has launched a major program of support to study the possibility of regenerating human limbs.
Now the problem involved two teams of scientists from ten institutions in the country. These groups are general grants of 7.6 million dollars and if the preliminary experiments are successful, it could be subsequently increased.
primary task of scientists is the creation of blastema (clusters of cells that can develop into an organ or body part) in mammals. To fulfill it, the agency has provided to researchers for two years. After four years, they will be required to submit evidence that they were able to regenerate a finger of a mammal. ”
