To measure the temperature at great depth, Buffett and his colleagues had to seek the assistance of quite a surprise - to the moon and distant quasars. Emitting quasars provide the necessary radio-wave background, where scientists are able to notice even the faintest vibrations of our planet - for example, a light vibration of the axis of rotation.

Having high-precision measurement of the vibration, Buffett and his colleagues concluded that the magnetic field in the interior of the planet. The fact that it was under the influence of the moon axis shifts slightly, which causes the inner layers of the liquid core offset from the solid surface and slightly mitigate these fluctuations. Having calculated this effect the liquid core, the team Buffett and managed to reach the magnetic field in it - on average it was 25 Gauss. It is up to the next step - to study the mechanism that fuel the planet.
