Orangutans walk like people

Traditionally it was thought that human ancestors moved to bipedal walking from the option of movement in the four extremities, which is characteristic of gorillas and chimpanzees (they go, with the bent knuckles of the fingers). Studied in detail how the movement of orangutans in the trees, British anthropologists have concluded that the biped initially could develop for walking on a thin, flexible branches. This hypothesis helps to explain the recently discovered evidence that the earliest bipedal ancestors (orrorin, ardipitek and early australopithecines) lived in the woods, but not in the savannah.
